A Winter Cleanse – The Meals

Here’s the complete list of what I ate during my winter cleanse. To read more about the cleanse itself please check out these posts: why I did it, how I felt during the cleanse, and how I transitioned back to a fuller diet (coming soon). Besides the meals listed below I also drank more water (at least 6 10-12oz glasses) throughout the day and drank herbal tea in the afternoon and evening.

Monday 

  • breakfast - a glass of water with lemon and cayenne, a pear, coffee with almond milk
  • snack - a mix of sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, peanuts, almonds, dried cherries, and raisins
  • lunch - spicy lentil tomato soup
  • snack - more nuts and dried fruit
  • dinner - roasted sweet potatoes, new potatoes, and onions (tossed with olive oil, salt & pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika) and steamed broccoli (including the stems which are my favorite!)
  • snack - popcorn with a little olive oil and salt

Tuesday

  • breakfast - water with lemon and cayenne, coffee with almond milk, half a banana
  • snack - an apple, along with a small handful of nuts
  • lunch - roasted carrot soup and veggies (tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, and celery) with hummus
  • dinner - leftover lentil soup, salad with carrot-ginger dressing
  • snack - dried fruit and nuts

Wednesday

Thursday

  • breakfast - water with lemon and cayenne, coffee w/almond milk, green juice (apple, celery, cucumber, spinach & lime)
  • snack - a clementine and banana
  • lunch - spicy tomato soup, vegetables and guacamole
  • snack - 1/2 an apple, blueberries, handful of peanuts
  • dinner - roasted root vegetables
  • snack - grapes

Friday

  • breakfast - water with lemon and cayenne, coffee with almond milk, banana
  • lunch - leftover lentil soup, fruit
  • snack - handful of nuts
  • dinner - brown rice pasta with sautéed peppers, onions, & mushrooms in tomato sauce
  • snack - popcorn

Saturday

  • breakfast – water with lemon and cayenne, coffee with almond milk, banana
  • lunch – leftover tomato soup
  • snackfresh juice (carrot, apple, cucumber, celery, lime), nuts and dried fruit
  • dinner – spicy roasted cauliflower over green salad

Sunday

  • breakfast - water with lemon and cayenne, coffee with almond milk, apple w/peanut butter
  • lunch – leftover lentil soup
  • snack – a pear
  • dinner – vegetables and bean chips with guacamole, vegetable and bean chili

Monday

  • breakfast – water with lemon and cayenne, coffee with almond milk, nuts and dried fruit
  • lunchsquash and apple soup (sub olive oil for butter)
  • snack – a pear
  • dinner – roasted root vegetables, green salad with balsamic vinaigrette
  • snack – popcorn

Tuesday

  • breakfast - water with lemon and cayenne, coffee with almond milk, banana
  • lunch – leftover squash soup w/coconut milk added
  • snack – nuts and dried fruit
  • dinner – roasted chickpeas and tomatoes (w/ smoked paprika, salt and pepper), green salad w/balsamic vinaigrette

Wednesday

  • breakfast – water with lemon and cayenne, coffee with almond milk, banana
  • snack – grapes
  • lunch – chicken broth with vegetables (red pepper, cabbage, and mushrooms)
  • dinner – vegetable stir fry over brown rice
  • snack – bean chips with salsa

Thursday

  • breakfast – water with lemon and cayenne, coffee with almond milk, banana
  • lunch – leftover vegetable bean chili
  • snack – grapes
  • dinnervegetable soup, guacamole salad

Friday

  • breakfast – water with lemon and cayenne, coffee with almond milk, apple
  • lunch – leftover vegetable soup
  • snack – banana
  • dinner – leftover vegetables stir-fry with brown rice
